Larry Sieler

U.S. NAVY 8 years.  Enlisted 1974 separated 1983.

Served 4 years at sea, 2 years on the USS HASSAYAMPA (A0-145) Homeport Hawaii 1975 -1977 left as YN3. And 2 Years on the USS EL PASO (LKA-117) Homeport Norfolk Virginia 1977-1978, Left as a YN2.

Served 4 years attached to the US Embassy Canberra, ACT, Australia 1979 to 1983.  Went to Defense Institute of Security Assistance Management from Sep 1978 to December 1978 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio, before being attached to Foreign Military Sales at the Embassy. Left as a YN1.

Attended YNA School in Meridian, Mississippi, and separated as a YN1 (E-6)

I have lived in Australia since March 1979, left Canberra in 1985, and moved to the Brisbane area. Married Paula in 1980 with a Military Wedding at the American Embassy Residence with USMC as the Cross Sword bearers, with Navy as Groomsmen, Army and Airforce as Ushers.

Been an American Legion Member since 1990 with 5 years of broken service due to work commitments. Home Town, is Aberdeen South Dakota.

Joined the Army after high school in April 1981 as an Infantryman.  Assignments were:  197the Inf Bde;  193rd Bde -Panama;  101st Pathfinder Co;   Brooklyn Co. Recruiting;   25th Inf Div(Light).

Deployed as Infantry Squad Replacements to Opn. Desert Storm - went into Kuwait City protecting Army Central Command.

82nd Abn Div. - Fort Bragg, NC.   ETS'd from Fort Bragg January '95, stayed in Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) voluntarily.   RECALLED September 2007 for 13 months to deploy with 45th Inf Bde OKARNG to Iraq.

Moved to Australia December 2019 with my Australian wife Christine.

University training 1966-1971, BA Degree in Bible.

Moved to Australia in 1975, lived in Canberra 1975-1998.

Moved to Brisbane Queensland area in 1998

Joined American Legion in 2016

Have lived in Australia since 1996 after I separated from the Air Force

Jackson Speed Enlisted as a private (E1) in U.S. army in 1969. Upon graduation from Medic course (91B10) in San Antonio, I was assigned to the Infantry Officer Training Course at Ft. Benning, I was commissioned in the Quartermaster Corps as a supply officer, with side training in parachute rigging. I was sent to Vietnam where I was promoted from 2nd Lieutenant (01) to First Lieutenant (02).

 

Leaving the Army, I attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned a BS degree.  I then enrolled at Saint Mary’s Law School in San Antonio, graduating in 1976.  I practiced law as a general practitioner for 25 years.

 

How I came to live in Oz:  My daughter married an Australian and when I retired as a lawyer I decided to move closer so I could see and help with my growing grandchildren.

 

My hometown is San Antonio Texas and I Arrived in Australia in 2004. and have been a member of the American Legion since 2005.

James Fleming: I joined the US Army at the age of 18 on July 7th 1992. Fort Sill Oklahoma for basic training and Fort Sam Houston for advanced training where I became a medic 91B. Then Redstone Arsenal Alabama in ER.
 

After 3 years (1993-1996) I reenlisted to go to Hawaii and be with the
25th infantry division light 3rd brigade combat team Schofield barracks. My unit was 2nd battalion 5th infantry. Where I earned my expert field medical badge and Promoted to SGT.

 

During my time in Hawaii (1996-1999) I was deployed to Australia where I met my wife Angela. We got married in the Chapel under the Barracks. Next duty station was Ft. Carson Colorado 1 st battalion 12th infantry

4th infantry division (1999-2002), and became a non-commissioned officer.

In February 2002 I got out of the Army a total of 9.5 years and decided to settle in Australia. I went to the Australian Catholic University and earned a bachelor of nursing. Since 2005 I have been a registered nurse. From Detroit, Michigan, and been a member of the American Legion Since 2015.

Served on active duty from 4 September 1980 - 1 October 2010 (30 years and just shy of a month) Served with: 7625th Logistics Squadron, US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado - 7th Transportation Squadron, Carswell AFB, Fort Worth, Texas - 8th Transportation Squadron, Kunsan AB, Republic of Korea - 63rd Transportation Squadron, Norton AFB, San Bernardino, California - 554 Red Horse Civil Engineering Squadron, Osan AB, Republic of Korea - 49th Material Maintenance Group (Bare Base) Holloman AFB, Alamogordo, New Mexico - 36th Transportation Squadron, Andersen AFB, Guam - Headquarters Allied Forces Central Europe (NATO), Brunnsum, The Netherlands - 49th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Holloman AFB, Alamogordo, New Mexico - 100th Logistics Readiness Squadron, RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom - Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, Illinois - Combat tours in Kuwait and Iraq along with numerous peacetime deployments.

I came to Australia to be close to my sons when I retired in 2010.

I’m a lifetime member of my hometown VFW in Tidioute, Pennsylvania and joined the American Legion Post AU03 in 2018.

R F Cullum Jr. Joined the Navy in November 1973 going to Bootcamp in Orlando.  Onto ABH “A” school before reporting to NAS Bermuda.

 

From there it was to VP-46, RTC Orlando and ending aboard CVN 70 USS Carl Vinson.

 

Left the Navy August 1986 and started civilian life with my wife whom I met in Australia in 1983.

 

Live in Perth, Western Australia.  Hometown is Avon Park Florida.

I became a member of the American Legion in 2019.

Alexander J. Reed. I am a Founding Member of American Legion Post AU03 joining along with my Father Joseph A Reed (RIP), on 20 December 1982.  I have been in Australia since 1973. 

I lived with my Parents in Toowoomba from 1973 to 1975 and moved to Redcliffe in 1976 where I live now.

I served in the U.S. Army January 1969 to October 1970, where I was stationed in Long Binh Vietnam with the 148th Security Company 3 RD Ordinance Battalion (ammo) US ARMY Pacific, 76Y30 MOS unit Supply and Armor as a Stock Clerk. I served in Vietnam for 11 months and 28 days.
