2018 4th July Celebrations and
Chili Cook-Off

A lot went into getting this right, the following people entered a Crock Pot of Delicious Chili.  All were equally good and was a close call for all that won a position as the Chili Chef of The American Legion Post AU03.  1st Prize of $50.00 went to Ainsley Jordan, 2nd Prize of $25.00 to John Pizzino, and 3rd Prize of $15.00 to Chief Richard Bunce.

The entrants were Larry Sieler, Sonja Meek, Joel Atkins, Larry Walker, Richard Bunce, Zack Bartenuk, Storm Bartenuk, Ainsley Jordan, John Pizzino, and Nigel Perry.  We had four non-Legion Members for Judges, names withheld, for security reasons.  Each dish was rated on a scale of 1-5 5 being the best on Colour, Aroma, Texture, Heat, Flavour.  The scores were 63, 60, 55, all Chilies rated from 50 on up.  A perfect score would have been 100, Great Effort on everyone's part.  The judges were very professional.

We made an undisclosed amount for the Post AU03, and for Carolina Kitchens. Excellent turn out and a great Social Gathering.  Consolation Prizes were handed out to all contestants.

Special Thank you for their continued support Zack and Storm Bartenuk, who worked their tails off cooking Hot Dogs, Serving Chili, and Cleaning Up.  These two deserve a medal.  My new adopted Family.  being from South Dakota makes the Bartenuk Family even more special.  Thanks for Indie making me smile and laugh.  Thanks Family

If no one knew the 3 Ladies and young man serving, my nephew and nieces and Gillian's children, Morgan was on the till, alongside sister Chelsea, and little brother Rylan, and working as the Team Leader my favourite Sister in law, Paula's baby sister Gillian.  Love those guys.  They did a very professional job and handled all enquires with no exception and thought outside the box, leaving me to do whatever I was needed to do.  Thanks Family

Thank you for the support from Writers Reserve Eric, Norm Joel, and the other three Judges, whose identity will be protected as they want to enter into next year’s competition.

We also have two new members, David Walker and James Davies.  Also attending was Dick Duffy Legion Member from post 150, Kingston New York.
